Yan Zhenguo graduated in 1956 as Bachelor of Medicine from the Medical School of Qi Lu University in Shandong, one of China's oldest and most respected universities. Since then he has worked in the Anatomy Department of Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He obtained a Ph.D. in medicine at the Medical School of Osaka University (Japan) in 1982 and was appointed Professor of Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1986. Professor Yan is a supervisor of Ph.D. students and visiting researcher at the Medical School of Osaka University and is a regular lecturer at Hong Kong University. Professor Yan is a pioneer of the anatomy of acupuncture points in China. He has published many books, atlases and articles and is chief editor of the Textbook of Anatomy for Traditional Chinese Medicine. Many of his books have been translated and published in English, Japanese, French, German, Spanish, Russian and Arabic.
