Landscape today is no longer just a cultural aspect, it is an essential element in the definition and the application of a modern approach in sustainable development. Policies have been developed to preserve and manage landscape resources. This book presents different methodologies developed to analyse, manage and plan landscape resources and reports recent research findings from Europe and North America. Using case studies from these regions, it suggests revisions of some of the current policies concerning forestry, rural development and nature conservation, which often contribute to the degradation of cultural landscapes.
