The purpose of this book is to help law students to develop and practice communication skills in the context of client interviewing and counselling. Starting from the first meeting with the client, this text covers preparing for an interview; how to use effective listening and questioning techniques; creating a rapport with the client; and giving appropriate advice. It adopts the model of client-centred counselling which increasingly reflects the lawyer/client relationship. Reflection and evaluation are encouraged through the use of practical examples.
