As part of the series designcity the Venice Guide provides information only on what can be found in the Lagoon. Like previous guides, it is divided into the sections Entertainment, Culture and Product with reviews on bars, hotels, museums, galleries, shops and workshops touched by the world of design and the arts and crafts of yesterday and today. The guide lists minimal B&B's, bookshops and stores as well as Harry's Bar with its listed furnishings, the former Olivetti shop designed by Carlo Scarpa or the gallery that belongs to Marina Barovier with its modern designer glass. It talks about the Murano glass factories, especially the ones active in the twentieth century, the squeri where gondolas are built on a design that seems inspired by the movement of the waters of the canals and the little shops that produce forcole (rowlocks). The in-depth section is dedicated to designers and graphic artists. The unique network of districts, alleys, squares, docks and canals prompted the editors to prepare a series of itineraries about the former glories of the Serenissima: shipyards, fabrics and glass. In the end of the book you will find plans of the different parts of the city.
