Alistair Crawford, born in Fraeserburgh, Aberdeenshire in 1945, attended the Glasgow School of Art and later taught in the Department of Textile Industries, University of Leeds and at Coventry Polytechnic.
He worked as painter, printmaker, photographer and art historian and was commissioned to create the mural The Palio at Siena by the University of Leeds in 1971.
Crawford gained a British Council Artists Award in 1981 and in 1988 founded Aberystwyth Printmakers with Robert Meyrick.
He has enjoyed more than 100 shows both in the UK and internationally as well as solo exhibitions including Barcelona Tango 1993-95, shown in USA and Britain and A Return to Wales, retrospective 1975-2000, at the National Library of Wales.
His works are held by major Collections including as Art Gallery in Glasgow, British Council and Imperial College.
