Hirschsprung's disease continues to be an interesting problem in paediatric surgery. Progress has been made in the understanding of the functional anatomy of the enteric nervous system and of the molecular genetics of Hirschsprung's disease and new diagnostic methods and treatment techniques have also been introduced.
