Ten articles make up the proceedings of a conference held in honor of the 50th anniversary of Columbia U.'s Bakhmeteff Archive of Russian and East European History and Culture. The contributing librarians, archivists, and historians offer perspectives on the cultural history of Russian and East European exiles and immigrants to North America in the 20th century. They document past efforts to preserve the written culture outside the bounds of Communist power as well as current technological developments that are making the materials more accessible. Of interest to archivists and scholars in Russian studies and American immigration, the proceedings were published simultaneously as Slavic and East European Information Resources, vol. 4 no. 4.
