ANDREW EVANS is an author, travel writer, and TV host.
Andrew has completed some 50 assignments for National Geographic, reporting live from all seven continents and over one hundred countries. Whether following the trail of an 18th-century sea captain to remotest Polynesia, walking overland from Syria to Saudi Arabia, or taking public transportation all the way to Antarctica—Andrew travels with the heart of an explorer seeking out all that is weird, wonderful, and beautiful.
As a writer, Andrew contributes to National Geographic and National Geographic Traveler, as well as BBC Travel, Outside, The Chicago Tribune and Readers Digest. He is the author of five books, including two bestselling guidebooks, and his award-winning memoir The Black Penguin.
On TV, Andrew highlights the many fascinating people, places and ideas he encounters around the world. His tech-centered series, “World’s Smartest Cities” showcased the innovation and technology behind some of the world’s most compelling up-and-coming urban spaces. Frequently appearing on the National Geographic Channel, his latest series “Hidden Gems” explores the lesser-known corners of major global destinations.
A renowned influencer in the world of travel media, he calls for responsible and respectful storytelling that honors local culture and promotes environmental welfare and sustainable travel.
Andrew holds degrees from BYU and Oxford University. He lives with his family in Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains and loves to run, swim, hike, and knit.
