Autor
Laurence Mitchell has, at various times, taught English in Sudan, surveyed historic farm buildings in Norfolk, pushed a pen in a local government office and worked as a geography teacher. Travel has been an important part of his life ever since his first tentative steps overseas in the 1970s, well before the term ‘backpacker’ was invented. These days, he works as a freelance travel writer and photographer and has contributed to publications that include Geographical, hidden Europe, Walk and Discover Britain as well as writing English walking guides and several guidebooks for Bradt. With a particular penchant for forgotten places, border zones and territories in transition, he makes regular forays to such places from his home base in Norwich. Laurence also enjoys exploring places closer to home, like the counties of Norfolk and Suffolk where he has a keen interest in walking routes, wildlife, local history and Slow travel. He is a member of the British Guild of Travel Writers and the Outdoor Writers and Photographers Guild.
