This collection of 23 early writings on tea in England extends from the early modern period when tea was introduced from the East, via the Netherlands and caused controversial argument between anti- and pro- tea drinkers, through its acceptance in British society and establishment as a tradition. The set includes not only famous books on tea by Kaempfer, Short, Twinning, and Lettsome, but also very rare poems, manner books, medical treatises, and a review by Samuel Johnson.
