Perioperative Issues for Surgeons

This issue will address the many perioperative components that define patient risk and optimize patient outcome. Topics that will be addressed include preoperative decision making, surgical infections, nutrition, the immunosuppressed patient, the obese patient, the elderly population, anesthesia and various aspects of pain management, both acute and chronic.
