A split personality leads to double trouble in this shojo manga(female-oriented graphic novel) series. Yaya Higuchi is a sweet, shy16-year-old aspiring singer who is constantly teased and bullied by herfather and her so-called friends Seri and Moe. The only person whohonestly seems to care for her is Moriyama, a male classmate who heads upa rock band. However, there is someone willing to come to Yaya's defense:aggressive, confident Nana, who plans to exact swift and brutal revengefor every single slight suffered by Yaya. Unfortunately, Nana is actuallyYaya's alternate personality, and every time Nana surfaces, Yaya can'tremember what Nana does! The black-and-white art, as is typical for shojo,focuses tightly on the excessively pretty, big-eyed characters. The artisteffectively depicts the shift in personality from self-effacing, childishYaya to confident, sexy Nana, while still clearly indicating that thesetwo egos inhabit the same body. Reproducing the original Japaneseright-to-left orientation, the book also contains guides to Japanesehonorifics and the cultural references used in the text.
